The Trans-Continental Evangelistic Association (TransCEA) Bible Church was founded in 1983 by Rev. Dr. Kwame Opoku-Asuah in Liberia, West Africa. During a brief visit to Liberia from Ghana—his home country—Rev. Opoku intended to bid farewell to his father, an aircraft engineer serving under President Samuel K. Doe as he prepared to travel to the United States to pursue a law degree.
However, during that short stay, the Lord redirected his life with a divine call to preach the gospel instead of practicing law. Though the decision was not an easy one, he answered the call with obedience and faith. From that moment, God used his ministry powerfully—transforming lives in Africa, the United States, and across the world.
The TransCEA Bible Church in Waterloo, Iowa was established through the dedication and faith of Pastor Frances Galamue, a devoted servant of God and long-standing member of the TransCEA family.
Pastor Frances became part of the ministry in 1987, when she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She later married Pastor Samuel M. Galamue in February 1994 at TransCEA Bible Church. Together, they have faithfully served the Lord for decades.
In 2006, the Galamue family migrated to the United States with a vision to continue the mission of TransCEA—to bring souls to Christ and plant churches wherever God leads. Despite family responsibilities and nursing studies, Pastor Frances remained steadfast in ministry.
Week after week, she and her husband traveled long distances from Minnesota to Waterloo—from Saturday to Monday—for Bible studies, Sunday worship, and evangelism. Even during harsh winters and personal challenges, she often traveled alone to ensure the Gospel was preached.
Since its official establishment in 2016, TransCEA Bible Church – Waterloo Assembly has become a beacon of hope and transformation. The church welcomes an average of 68 worshippers—adults and children—many of whom are African Americans and members of the broader Waterloo community.
Under Pastor Frances’s leadership, the church continues to grow rapidly—spiritually, numerically, and in community impact—so much so that the congregation has outgrown its current worship space.
The vision of TransCEA Bible Church – Waterloo is to see lives transformed through Jesus Christ and to expand the reach of the Gospel in Iowa and beyond. As the ministry continues to grow, support is needed for new worship space, community outreach initiatives, and ministry development.
The church welcomes prayers, financial contributions, and partnerships from individuals, organizations, and believers who share a passion for evangelism and community transformation.
Together, we continue the work that began in 1983—a work rooted in faith, sustained by love, and destined to reach generations yet to come.
Be part of what God is doing through TransCEA Bible Church – Waterloo. Worship with us, serve with us, and grow with us as we continue proclaiming the Gospel—one soul at a time.
